Paul Stevenson, our resident PGA Professional, joined Portadown Golf Club in 1987 becoming the youngest ever club professional in the history of the PGA, and is celebrating his 30 year anniversary on the 1st May 2017. With his wealth of knowledge and experience of the Golfing world, Paul is on hand to offer his expert advice with purchasing equipment to suit your game. As a Level 3 Coach, Paul can enhance your game no matter what level of ability.
Paul turned professional in 1983 as Ulster Boys Champion and has had 13 wins during his playing career in the PGA Irish Region. Notable wins were the Christy Flag in 1991 with Andrew Poole, the Pro Captain’s in 1994 with Herbie McCartney and 2 Lombard Trophies with Edwin Wray and Matthew Lavery 2001 and 2015 respectively. Paul was also runner up to Darren Clarke in 1992 in the Ulster PGA Championship which was Darren Clarkes first win as a professional.
Paul comes from a sporting family with his father Ken Stevenson a former Amateur Champion and Irish International Golfer and also a former member of the European Senior Tour. While his sister Gail also represented Ireland 53 times in hockey playing in 2 World Cups. Paul is married to Jill and has 4 children, Lucy, Harry, Joseph and Penny and all are showing an interest in sport.
