Hell’s Kitchen Comes To Portadown Golf Club

For the second time, the wooden spoons were out doing battle as Hell’s Kitchen came to Portadown Golf Club  once again. Under the watchful eye of Head Chef Stephen Anderson from The 19th Restaurant, 6 Gordon Ramsay wannabes, trained vigorously for 4 weeks, chopping, frying, gutting, and even cooking, to bring 80 brave paying guests a delicious 3 course meal.

Team Red –  Michael Connolly, Nigel Henderson and Herbie Smyton challenged Team Blue – Valerie Stewart, Carol Burrows and Liz Wilson in a gruelling 3 hour cook off under the scrutiny of Special Guest Chef Stephan Roux – very very long lost cousin of Michel Roux – better known to us as Stephen Wray. We were provided with a large screen, with sound, in the restaurant so not to miss out on any of the action in the kitchen. A first aid post was kindly provided, just in case of an emergency!

On the menu – for starters a choice of Goats Cheese with Mizuno Roasted Peppers or Confit of Gressingham Duck. Main course,  Seared Fillets of Seabass or Rosemary and Garlic infused Rib Steak and Spicy Plum Crumble or Lemon Syllabub for dessert. All helped down with copious amounts of laughter.

Congratulations to the Winning Red Team who came out triumphant 32 points ahead of their competitors. As a reward for their hard work, they were awarded with a special Hell’s Kitchen Apron. Not forgetting the gallant runners up, a specially made wooden spoon to mark the occasion.

Ladies – I am aware you got the difficult dishes - you know what men are like when they loose!!
