Hell's Kitchen - February 2010  (19 photos)

Under the watchful eye of Head Chef Stephen Anderson from The 19th Restaurant, 6 Gordon Ramsay wannabes, trained vigorously for 4 weeks, chopping, frying, gutting, and even cooking, to bring 60 brave paying guests a delicious 3 course meal.

Team Red – Bill Nixon, John Hamilton and Gareth Watson challenged Team Blue – Bobby Stewart, John McCallum and David McDowell in a gruelling 3 hour cook off under the scrutiny of Special Guest Chef Stephan Roux – very long lost cousin of Michel Roux – better known to us as Stephen Wray. We were provided with a large screen, with sound, in the restaurant so not to miss out on any of the action in the kitchen. We were assured the wine bottles they had to their mouths were full of blackcurrant juice!!    A first aid post was kindly provided, just in case of an emergency?

On the menu, we were offered Seared Scallops or Baked Portobello Mushrooms, Scorched Fillet Salmon or Seared Sirloin Steak, Poached Pears or Chocolate Mousse. All helped down with copious amounts of laughter.

Congratulations to the Winning Red Team who came out triumphant .75 of a point ahead of their competitors. As a reward for their hard work, they were awarded with a special Hell’s Kitchen Apron. Not forgetting the gallant runners up, a specially made wooden spoon to mark the occasion.

THERE IS HOPE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE LADIES!!
